Careers
We are a small business in Northern Ireland and we believe in giving everyone an opportunity to contribute to our cause of eradicating Clutter, Chronic Disorganisation and Hoarding Behaviours.
We take on a variety of colleagues and volunteers from all backgrounds with a range of experience. All our colleagues promote our core values of Trust, Respect, Honesty, Kindness and Fairness. They must be an advocate for our clients, speaking up for their rights when they are unable to.

Therapeutic Cleaner
Our Therapeutic Cleaners are the people on the front line of our Decluttering, Organising and Hazard to Health clear out operations. They typically work for 6 hours a day on site in a client's home, removing rubbish, organising and tidying and general domestic cleaning. Our Hazard to Health clear outs can be 1 to 5 days in the same home.

Our Therapeutic Cleaners need a have a UK Driving Licence, and access to a vehicle for commuting to our jobs. They must have no reason for an Access NI criminal record check to be declined, be fit and healthy for the extremely energetic work and be over 18 years of age. The work is currently Self-Employed and ad-hoc, working 2 to 6 days per month. You must have registered with HMRC for a UTR number and have a UK bank account.

Our cleaners must be compassionate and be able to be non-judgemental. They must enjoy cleaning and have a passion for helping restore people's lives. Whilst the work is physically and mentally draining it is extremely rewarding.

The Therapeutic Cleaners report to the Hoarding Practitioner who will be overseeing each client's case.

All training from a therapeutic point of view is given, such as:
-
Hoarding Awareness, Harm Reduction and Stages of Change
Plus all standard Company training such as:
-

Hoarding Support Worker (Professional Organiser)
Our Hoarding Support Workers work more directly with the client in the Decluttering and Organising phases. They use Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques techniques for getting our clients to declutter and release items for sale, donating, recycling or dumping.

Our Hoarding Support Workers are Professional Organisers with a specialist interest in Hoarding. We ask that they are a member of the Institute for Challenging Disorganisation or the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers or National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals and that they keep up their professional membership status with Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Hoarding Practitioner
Our Hoarding Practitioners manage the case of the hoarder for the duration of the intervention, think of this role as similar to that of a Social Worker or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.
The job starts with positive engagement with the Hoarder to start their recovery through the Hoarding Recovery Path Stages 1 to 3 (Pre-Contemplation, Contemplation and Preparation) before any clear-out interventions take place (Stage 4 - Action)
When the client is ready for in-home assistance from our Therapeutic Cleaners and Hoarding Support Workers / Professional Organisers, the Hoarding Practitioner manages the clear out intervention. They encourage the Hoarder to engage and hand-hold throughout the in-home visits which can be extremely stressful for the hoarder.
Clear-out interventions vary in length of time and frequency depending on the hoarder's willingness to participate. The Hoarding Practitioner promotes participation in our after-care activities to promote Maintenance (Stage 5) and Relapse Prevention (Stage 6). They ensure that the Hoarder and their Family are aware of all available resources such as regular Hoarding Support Calls, Online Hoarding Support Group, PATH and MAPS sessions and the self-service Hoarding Recovery College.
Hoarding Practitioner visits can range from 2 to 6 hours depending on the client's needs and location. Visits may start at once a week or once every 2 weeks and then slowly decrease to once a month depending on the client's progress.
This is a floating, regional role where you will have a number of Hoarders on your caseload. You will work with a Person Centred Approach, aiding clients to participate in their Hoarding Recovery Action Plan. You will be decluttering, organising and cleaning either alone or with the Therapeutic Cleaners & Hoarding Support Workers (whom you will need to oversee).
You will be employing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques and working with clients with complex mental and physical health needs, often in crisis and / or dealing with addiction issues. Experience in similar social or care work is essential.

Our Hoarding Practitioners are the 'eyes & ears' or our organisation, the first signs of client relapse will be spotted by our Practitioners. They actively engage with our clients and report back on the Client's progress. Confidentially is critical, as is building trust with the client. Equally the Hoarding Practitioner is responsible for submitting end of session progress notes for each client.

Hoarding Practitioners are generally given 1 geographic area of Northern Ireland, which is roughly the same as the Health & Social Care Trust areas ( Belfast, Northern, South Eastern, Southern & Western).

Hoarding Practitioners must have:
-
A background in social work, care work, custodial work or equivalent
-
An awareness of Trauma Informed Care
-
An awareness of Person Centred Therapy and the Transtheoretical or Stages of Change Model
-
Experience in Motivational Interviewing or similar
-
Experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
-
Level 3 Certified Professional Organising Qualification from the ICD or equivalent from another provider (evidence required)
-
Specialist Hoarding Practitioner Training from a recognised training provider (or be willing to undertake this)
